To be honest im not sure, i my log did show that the error.wav (i think it was) was modified, but after cross checking the crc32 and md5 checksums with an uninfeccted machine, they appeared the same?

If you have formated your computer, you have nothing to fear in regards to MBS, so i doubt it has anything do with mbs. Was this noise coming straight after a clean install?

Have you tried Prevx or Brute Force Uninstaller?  These should detect if you've got anything left on your system, I would think.  They may pick up other things which could be causing the problem.
