Like so many others who have posted their niggles with Platte and I am another victim of this scam.  I don't know why and, as a silver surfer, I had no idea what or who these people were about (I do now LOL).

For weeks the desktop icon reappeared as fast as I got rid of it and I had the constant pop-ups.  You all know how it goes cos you have all experienced it.

After finding a couple of trojans (related to this or not I don't know), I surfed the net for a download that would clean up my system.   This made an immediate difference and iradicated and quarantined loads of unwanted crap.  The only problem I had was speeding up my connection.  I uninstalled my internet software and reinstalled it again and UREKA! 5 weeks down the line I have not heard from Platte Media and not seen a pop up or had any problems with my PC whatsoever.

I was certain that I had not signed up to anything and I had not given them my details.  I declined to make the free call to have the rubbish cleared from my system as I was concerned that they would track me down this way.

Hope this info is of use to anyone out there who is still tearing their hair out.  If a little white haired old lady can clean her system up this way then there is hope for us all.

Good luck all!!!

I found the free edition of Lavasoft's Ad-Aware program remarkably effective in dealing with Platte...
