I now have become a victim of this bunch of conmen. I had no idea that this forum was available before hand and made the mistake of calling Platte for the uninstall code, they did send one and it worked, but they now have address
and are threatening to take me to court in 14 days, there letter was dated 20th October and was recieved on the 28th. I did notice that the legal department signiture and customer services are the same person, and that they are based near Dunmow essex.
I have two issues with them, far from preventing internet fraud they are creating it, as anyone that owns a pc could get a bill be it an internet cafe owner, school, libery etc. That brings me to my main problem, how can they be sure that minors are not getting this material? just typing an a date of birth is no security as most kids can work that out. The Americans have a law believe that requires a credit card detail to be added to confirm age, and most sites over here do,So are they not breaking the law on not taking taking steps to ensure that minors cannot get access?
I will keep you posted as to my court date if it ever arrves, but you may want to look at the OFT web site and type in micro billing systems in there search and click on the first option as it has the undertakings they took with the OFT which i think they have breeched.
Keep up the good work

I like you received a 7 day court letter.  Some 4 weeks later I have received a letter from a debt recovery service who have been appointed by Platte International to recover the debt giving me 7 days to make payment before escalated action being taken.  Has anyone else received the same kind of letter now?

Hi jantg,

What's the name of the debt collection agency, if you don't mind sharing? We've heard that Platte may be stepping up its efforts to recover debts (they still need to get hold of physical addresses to do this, of course).

I have seen a similar posting on another site, and I believe the debt recovery company in that case was Oriel - Is this the case with you?

Yes these are the people.  My Solicitor is giving them a call today - I will let you know the outcome later on.
