Hello everyone, I'm sorry we have all fallen victim to this disgusting bill. To sum my story up - i received the bill asking for £39.99 this time last year. I was so frightened. Although i had browsed certain sites out of curiosity, i had never willingly subscribed to anything. I thought the only thing to do was pay, so i did and the bill went away. Being utterly naive i  never thought it would be a scam and it only occured to me how foolish id been at providing my card details andgod only knows what other info to get rid of the bill.

One year on, im terrified. I have a new computer, about to change bank accounts and cant sleep. Ive heard nothing for a year (touch wood) but for some reason im scared i will get a bill (posted??) as it is a year on. I cant remember what the subscription i was on and mbs website says to cancel go back to the website but ive learnt my lesson and no chance am i risking innocenly clicking somthing again! So i want to know my account is CANCELLED but i certainly do not want to contact either the website, nor mbs directly. I have confirmatrion email that my account 'balance is clear' but nothing saying its cancelled. Although i havent heard from them in a year im still petrified, not sleeping and actually its getting me down alot. Please can someone help me. Im scared i will get letters in the post (i cant remember what info i gave them)

Hi Claire,

I think you should be OK. As far as I am aware, all of MBS / Platte Media's billing software runs on a monthly basis, so if it's not cancelled / removed it generates a new bill each month.

I don't think there are currently any annual subscription services. If you've not heard anything, and as far as MBS is concerned you've paid for their "services", you shouldn't have to worry.

If you have a new PC and have not visited any of their sites, and haven't copied components of the operating system across from an old computer (which is the only way I think you could transfer their software, if it was still present on the old system) then your new PC should be "clean".

It's highly unlikely that you will be contacted by the company. Try not to worry, and don't bother contacting them.

Thanks so much for your e-mail - i cant tell you how much im worrying about all this.

Basically, i think its wise not to contact them directly, but i really would feel alot better with confirmation from them saying my account no longer exists. Is there a middle man that can help me get this confirmation do you know?

Also, do you know if the company keep records of all personal info - card details/addresses etc if you have given them to them? I cant remember what i gave them....

I need the confirmation to put my mind at rest. Its a disgusting company isnt it?!
