Hi. I started getting the pop up bills a few days ago. We had a friend staying for a few weeks who was using the Pc, he must have somehow signed up to this Platte thing. I never thought to do research about Platte until after I called them, so I called the number to ask why I was getting these demands. Unfortunately I gave the customer services rep our address, anyway they gave me a code to suspend the account for 10 days. She said I would be emailed a form to sign and send back to them to confirm that it was a minor that had signed up for the service, then the account would be cancelled. The girl was very helpfull and said they wouldn't demand money if it was someone else who had signed up using this PC without my knowledge. The problem is I haven't received this email. What do I do? Remove the software and forget about it. I only wish I'd found this forum before I called them.

okey, did you get the girls name?

id contact them again i suppose, seeing as they have your address you will have to take a different route than the rest of us i suppose.

i dont think there should be a problem to be honest, and by what you have told us, it seems they *may* actually be practicing "ethical" business tactics as in unlike mbs, platte seem to recognise that if a minor or in your case, an unauthorized person access your computer, that you infact are not liable.

to be honest i would suggest just calling them again, did they give you any sort of reference number?

I've now got a form from them, which I have to sign and send back with a copy of the persons birth certificate or passport to prove they were under 18.
