It seems to me that the staff at both MBS and platte do seem to focus there arguments around the fact they have your IP, now im sure a compnay cant be that daft as to think they can track someone using a dynamic IP. So it got me thinking, surely they have got to have a reason for this.......
I use some software to remotly access my laptop from work, its done through a website, logmein(dot)com, this works by you installing the logmein software on the server machine ~(in my case my laptop) then log into the logmein site from the client machine (my works pc) and then remote control my laptop through the web browser.

now i realise this just sounds like random "spamming" but my point is this, i use a dynamic IP, the only way logmein nows my laptop is through its ip, BUT how can it know this IP if i keep changing it??? well...

the logmein software ocasionally pings the logmein servers and thus updating there records, could this be what MBS / platte are doing, i mean we have seen with several people who have contacted MBS / platte that the "customer support" guys quote IP's etc.

just a random thought
